NYCRUNS Race Services Overview

“For New York Area Runners”, that sums it up nicely. Everything we do is inspired by the wants and needs of those runners, us amongst them.

NYCRUNS.COM was launched in 2009 as a resource for local runners because we wanted something that helped us find local races and running clubs. Very quickly, our free race calendar and our mailing list grew in popularity and became successful advertising and promotional outlets for race directors. Two years later, NYCRUNS was reaching an estimated 35,000 unique local runners a month one way or another.

In 2010; we began offering race registration services to capitalize on the popularity of the site as a race resource. Our race registration service is bargain priced and provides massive free promotion for client races via our web site, mailing list, and social media. NYCRUNS provides registration to dozens of races including the Prospect Park Track Club’s Turkey Trot – the largest independent New York City race, and The Yonkers Marathon – the second oldest marathon in the U.S. after Boston.

In 2011, we began offering timing and scoring services. Our primary timing equipment is the state of the art Mylaps BibTag system, used at The Boston Marathon (and Brooklyn!) and throughout the known universe. For smaller races we also offer ChampionChip, a more economical solution. ChampionChip has been battle tested all over the world and is still in use in major races more than a decade after its debut. For scoring, we use Race Director, the industry leading race scoring package. 

In 2011, we also began helping organizations plan their own races, and even started some races ourselves – most notably the Brooklyn Marathon. In 2012, NYCRUNS will put on nearly 40 races, some of them our own, some of them in partnership with clients, and some on behalf of clients – all of them affordably priced, well managed, and runner oriented.

3 years in, more than ever, everything NYCRUNS does is guided by New York Area Runners and what they want. It doesn’t matter if they are slow and fast – only that they are interested in being part of our community. We’re honored to be a part of their world and hope that we can be a part of yours too.
